[Name]: “Golden Lion” Shiki
[Canon]: One Piece
[Age]: 60
[Gender]: Male
[Canon Point]: Strong World, during the meeting of the pirate captains.

[History]: Shiki’s entry on the One Piece wiki

[Personality]: Shiki is a legend, and one of the most powerful players of the Roger-era. He is intelligent, calculating, and patient. He is also extremely dedicated to his dreams, his plans, and those he cares about. That being said, Shiki is completely, entirely insane.

A victim of his own anger, Shiki is prone to sudden, violent outbreaks. Holding no acceptance for failure, Shiki is quick to dole out lethal punishment to those who fail to meet his expectations. Only those within his upper-echelon can even think themselves safe from his wrath. A true sociopath, Shiki appears charismatic on the outside, but in truth holds little regard for the lives of others.

And charismatic, he is. Shiki can easily read bodies and act in accordance. He uses this in order to dominate the situation. He always needs to be the biggest dog in the room, and is not afraid to use his stature, strength, and personality to do so. Even in the presence of other men of absurd strength, such as Whitebeard or Roger, Shiki will always speak from above. He believes himself to be peerless, and with no superiors. His hubris, however, is his ultimate weakness. Shiki believes himself to be unbeatable. He does not conceive that his plans can fail. Even when his plans begin to unravel, he continues to fight without hesitation. He will also gladly take the brunt of attacks that he could otherwise avoid or overpower as a show of his strength.

Shiki is a man of spectacle, and strives for victory with a flourish. His attacks are often flashy or ornate. An homage to his namesake, Shiki will often spend the time and energy to craft his projectiles into lion heads. He also attacks with impressively large objects when smaller attacks would work just as well, if not better. To Shiki, every attack is a show of force. This flair extends to his showy introductions. Shiki prefers to be introduced when entering a social event, or announce his presence with an elaborate dance.

As ruthless as he is, he is not unreachable. Shiki has an intense respect for strength and ability. He wants only to associate himself with the best and most powerful the world has to offer, as long as they want to be his underling, that is. His dream is to raise the ultimate crew and take control of the seas for his own, and he is willing to do anything to gather that crew. He is not beneath kidnapping, blackmail, and full-scale war to recruit those to his side. He also has little respect for women, referring to them by diminutive nicknames instead of by name. He has no problem physically and emotionally abusing women, even within his crew and takes an almost perverse pleasure in their suffering.

Shiki strives for war, and lives off of chaos. He is unable to stand peace for long, and will forego planning if a quick strike can send the world into a frenzy. This bloodlust also leaves him with a great, blinding anger, causing him to lash out like a mad beast. When he had heard that Gol D. Roger had been captured and was facing execution, Shiki destroyed half of Marine HQ Marineford and slaughtered countless marines before being captured and imprisoned under the highest level of security the prison could offer. This ultimately lead to the loss of his legs in his eventual escape.

[Abilities / Strengths & Weaknesses]: Shiki ate the Fuwa Fuwa no Mi, a devil fruit that allows the user to make anything he touches levitate. With this power, Shiki is able to telekinetically manipulate objects from cannonballs, to battleships, to entire islands. Once lifted into the air, the object will hang indefinitely, until Shiki releases it or loses consciousness. He is, however, unable to manipulate any living being besides himself. The only true way to counter his ability is to prevent him from touching any nonliving object. However, he still has the standard Devil Fruit weakness of being unable to swim, and being losing his strength when being submerged in sea water. Seastone restraints and weapons will also sap his power.

Shiki also has a unique fighting style, using twin swords Oto and Kogarashi. Once wielding them in a standard style, they have since doubled as prosthetic legs since his escape from Impel Down. While it is unknown what special properties they hold, Shiki refers to his blades as “famous”. With now twenty years of practice, Shiki is remarkably proficient in their use. Using his powers to fly, Shiki fights primarily using “kicks” by swinging his swords with his legs. If outnumbered, he will also fight with his fists, and boasts that he can kill a man with one hand. Shiki can also use his powers to take control of the “force” of his swords, and is capable of “shooting” sword slashes of pure energy at his opponents. His metal legs also leave him with poor resistance against electricity.

Even without his swords, Shiki is believed to be one of the most physically powerful men alive. He is able to go up against the likes of Gol D. Roger, Whitebeard, and, most famously, marine hero Monkey D. Garp and Admiral Sengoku the Buddha at the same time. Though he does not always win, being able to take on such powerful enemies is a testament to his strength.

Shiki's physical power is hindered primarily by his psychological issues. While a patient man, he is a victim to his own rage. When pushed to his limits, Shiki has no value for any life, including his own. In this state, he will rampage until he is brought down or his bloodlust is sated. His anger blinding him, he'll throw all strategy and forethought to the wind with the pure intent of annihilating his opposition.

Pride is his greatest sin. Shiki will take hits that he could dodge or otherwise handle as a show of strength. He sees himself larger than life, not even considering his enemy. He believes himself infallible, and refuses to identify failure points in his plans. Even as his world unravels, he believes himself certain to succeed.

Keeping himself on high, he finds himself unable to trust anyone. Though he may allow people into his circle, he can't open himself up. Because of this, he has remarkably few true companions, leaving him with few avenues to disperse his anger. This potentially makes Shiki a ticking time-bomb as the stresses of the pirate world press down on him. He respects few, and only those who are truly powerful or influential. This focus on power will alienate many people, potentially crippling his hopes of a strong crew. Even those he respects he only does so to gain strength or status. To Shiki, there are no people; only pawns in a game.

For as strong as his body is, Shiki's mind is aging. He has a terrible memory, and often confuses things. He has difficulty recognizing even people that he knows well. Though he plays it for jokes, the thought of his time growing short is terrifying, and only hastens his plans to conquer the sea. If he is going to leave this world, he's going to leave it under the Golden Lion banner.

He also has a soft spot for women, and will jeopardize his plans for the sake of a pretty girl. However, he isn't out to simply woo her. Shiki approaches girls like he approaches all things-- with the intent to conquer. He will brutalize them emotionally and, should he feel the need, physically. In a twisted sense, he treats them equally to men in that they are not safe from his wrath. That being said, his pleasure in their suffering is sickening.

[Limited Powers]: Shiki’s powers will now be more greatly tied to his stamina. He will no longer be able to lift entire islands. Though he can still leave objects in the air indefinitely, the act of “moving” these objects will eventually exhaust him. So, while he still has no trouble lifting a ship from the water, he will be unable to “fly” his ship between destinations.

What Shiki can lift, and how much damage he does will be tied to player permissions.

[Other Important Facts]: While Shiki’s history, his feud with Roger and his capture and escape from Impel Down all happen in the main continuity, the events of the movie Strong World are entirely noncanon, and castmates are free to recognize or not recognize him at their discretion.

[Shiki was in a whole new world, filled with virgin seas and unspoiled islands. While most would be taken aback by the sudden change in scenery, this was just the sort of excitement Shiki needed. He walked through town, towering over those around him, grinning from ear-to-ear while he floated a row of supply crates behind him. These crates? Stolen, of course. He would find what he wanted, touch it with a single finger, and it would just float away with him.]

Jihahaha… These villagers are pushovers. Is this place even worth taking over? I’ll just take what I need and be on my way.
